Happy 35th Birthday to the Lowell National Historical Park!

Today is the 35th anniversary of the signing of the legislation creating the Lowell National Historical Park. It was exciting and interesting to have been a part of the local efforts to make this happen. I was a member of the Board and later president of the Lowell Museum where members of Congress and Department of Interior/National Park Service officials learned a lot about the Lowell story and the possibilities for an historical park. Our colleague Paul Marion has just completed a book that tells the whole story – the “then and now” and all that happened in between. Available in the coming months.
