Help: On Saturday, May 9, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m, Art Alive! will hold a major fundraising event to retain our gallery curator. David Ray, a quadriplegic, has been working as our gallery curator since last March. His position as a C.E.T.A. [federal Comprehensive Employment and Training Act program]-paid administrative aide was recently terminated when C.E.T.A. funds were cancelled. … From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., there will be an open house with artists and craftspeople sketching portraits, printing wood cuts, painting small watercolors, making clay mugs on pottery wheels, lettering names in calligraphy, and photographing kids in vintage apparel from Grandma’s trunk.  At 6 p.m., you can sip our wine, sample our cheese, and preview the work donated for our 8 p.m. art auction. Paintings, photos, art lessons, a sketch of your home, a logo design for your organization, and ceramics are among the items that Lowell’s Ken Harkins will auction off. We bid Mr Harkins a tremendous, Thank You, for helping us out. ….
