The U.S. Capitol Dome: Cracks and Corrosion

In an oh so metaphoric situation, the dome of the iconic United States Capitol building is in distress! The roof is leaking – and there is no money to fix it. The roof is cracked and dinged – rusted, corroded and decaying – the roof is broken – and  there seems to be little concern and insufficient will to fix it.

Donald A. Ritchie, the Senate historian, has noted – “The Capitol is a wonderful story of the history of our nation.” Perhaps it reflects all too much our current story.  It’s time to fix the roof – and time to fix the Congress!
