Lowell Cemetery Tours Schedule Begins Next Week

 The J.C. Ayer lot is the home of  a most splendid monument – the Ayer lion. The monument by celebrated sculptor Mr. Price Joy is made of  Italian marble. Above it lies in repose amid the spring flowers, plants and trees so beautiful and abundant in the Lowell Cemetery.

 Here’s a reminder from the Lowell Cemetery that the Spring tours of this historic,  garden-style cemetery wil begin in May – in fact – next week:

Lowell Cemetery Spring Tour Schedule:

We are pleased to announce that Richard Howe Jr. – local Historian and Register of Deeds for No. Middlesex County – has scheduled the following Spring Tours:

Friday, May 6th at 1:00 PM
Saturday, May 7th at 10:00 AM
Friday, May 20th at 1:00 PM
Saturday, May 21st at 10:00
The tours will begin at the Belvidere Entrance to the Cemetery on Knapp Avenue (off Route 38/Rogers Street). There is plenty of free parking inside the cemetery.

 
All tours are free to the public and reservations are not necessary. Remember to wear comfortable walking shoes.

Join us for an interesting walk through our beautiful garden-style cemetery, focusing on both art and history. Explore early mourning customs, learn the significance of Victorian monument symbols and listen to engaging anecdotes about the people buried here.

The tours will be held rain or shine.
