‘Watching the Wheels Go Round and Round’
Downtown Lowell two-way traffic in play this morning. Looking good. Lots of signs, cones, cops, message boards, etc. Saw somebody make a right turn onto Central from Merrimack, heading south, smooth running. I think this is going to be a big plus. Change the vibe downtown. Improve navigation. Make it better for walking and crossing streets. There were 75 people in line for the blanket-and-chair dash at Boarding House Park at 7 a.m., happy people anticipating Lyle Lovett and his Big Band tonight at 7.30 p.m. Check the website of Lowell Summer Music Series to see if there are still tickets available. My guess is a capacity crowd by showtime. Close to 2,000 people, probably. A couple from Worcester asked for a restaurant suggestion for later today when they return (that’s right, they drove up at 6 a.m. to place chairs, and will drive home and come back later to eat before the show). Last night, a different kind of show, Ben Taylor, son of JT, played outside for an intimate audience of 400. It’s all good, as the young people say.
