Saturday, March 8, 2014 – 7pm – GALLERY SHOW OPENING NIGHT – PARTY LIKE IT’S 1865
At UnchARTed Gallery, 66 Merrimack Street in Lowell. Exhibit features images of Civil War reenactors in action. This opening event will include Civil War soldiers marching up Merrimack Street, a performance by the Civil War era band, Shades of Gray, and a display of the recently discovered Solon Perkins Civil War flag.

March from St. Patrick’s Church to Lowell City Hall for the raising of the Irish flag and associated ceremonies. Opening of Irish cultural week.

Thursday, March 13, 2014 at 7pm – Acre Forum & Anam Cara Awards
At Lowell National Park Visitor’s Center at 246 Market Street. The annual Acre Forum is part of Irish Cultural week. This year it will feature a new film called Made in Lowell: The Story of Lowell’s Irish Community with discussion and presentation of 2nd annual Anam Cara Awards to follow.

Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 10am – Walking tour of the Acre.
David McKean, historian and St Patrick’s Parish Archivist, will conduct a walking tour of the Irish Acre of the 1800s. The tour begins at National Historical Park Visitors Center, 245 Market Street.

Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 1pm – Lowell Historical Society Program
“Crime and Punishment in 19th Century Lowell” by Walter Hickey at Pollard Library Meeting Room. Take a different look at criminal activities of the Lowell Police Court: Fast Driving, Drunkenness, Larceny, Adultery, Stubborn Child, Embezzlement, and Bigamy.

Sunday, April 6, 2014 at 2pm – The History of Lowell’s Legal Community
At Lowell National Park Visitor’s Center at 246 Market Street. Register of Deeds and local historian Richard P. Howe Jr. will present a lecture on the history of Lowell’s legal community as part of the Moses Greeley Parker Lecture Series.
