Lowell Walks tomorrow: Historic fires

Tomorrow’s Lowell Walks tour is Major Downtown Fires. The tour will be led by Jason Strunk, a captain of the Lowell Fire Department, the author of “Lowell Firefighting,” and the co-author of “A25: Stories from Lowell’s First Arson Squad.” The tour will visit the sites of some historic fires that have destroyed property and claimed lives. The tour begins at 10 a.m. at Lowell National Park Visitor’s Center, 246 Market Street. It will last 90 minutes and is free.

Looking ahead, Lowell Walks will take next weekend off for the Lowell Folk Festival and then will resume on August 6, 2016, with Lowell Public Art Collection led by Paul Marion and Rosemary Noon. Future walks include: Greeks in the Acre with Steve Panagiotakos on August 13, 2016; East Merrimack Street with Richard Howe on August 20, 2016; and History of Lowell National Historical Park with Celeste Bernardo, Superintendent of Lowell National Historical Park, on August 27, 2016.
