LHP and LNHP Seeking Preservation and Cultural Award Nominees
The Lowell Heritage Partnership and the Lowell National Historical Park are seeking nominations from the community of individuals or organizations so that they may be acknowledged for their contributions in the areas of historic preservation and cultural heritage. The award recipients will be honored at the Annual Lowell Preservation and Cultural heritage Awards Reception as part of Doors Open Lowell in May.
These two award categories represent the important nature of the Park’s dual mission to “preserve and interpret the nationally significant historical and cultural sites” in Lowell. In each area, awards may be presented to nominees in two categories: one from an enrolled middle school through college student and one from the broader community. Lowell Heritage Partnership President Paul Marion noted in the award press release that “When we recognize extraordinary persons, businesses, and organizations for preserving and celebrating our heritage, we are saying we value these efforts. Our history is what makes us special.”
The nominations forms and the specific criteria for these awards are available at the Lowell National Historical Park website ~ http://www.nps.gov/lowe/parknews/2014-lowell-annual-awards-for-historic-preservation-and-culture.htm
