The Eagle Tribune announced its primary picks in today’s editorial. In the First Essex State Senate District – the seat formerly held by Steve Baddour – the ET favors Democrat and former Methuen Mayor Bill Manzi and Republican former Congressional candidate Sam Meas. In the Second Essex and Middlesex State Senate District the ET touts longtime Andover selectman Alex Vispoli over incumbent Rep Paul Adams for the Republican slot to face-off with State Senator Barry Finegold – the incumbent Democrat. Republican Jon Golnik gets the nod as he challenges Congresswoman Niki Tsongas in the newly created Third Congressional District. And finally, the ET selects Democrat Paul Iannuccillo over controversial incumbent Robert Kelley in the race for Northern Essex Register of Deeds. Many of these races have Independent candidates running in the November general election.
