Get on your smart phone

Thanks to Shawn Ashe for introducing me to a new plug-in for this blog that allows smart phone users to view our content more easily. While you could always pull up this site on your smart phone, it was not formatted for a small screen and required quite a bit of zooming & panning to read – not very efficient. This new app which is installed here, not on your phone, automatically detects when a visitor is using a smart phone and reformats our content to fit into your small screen. By tapping on titles shown on your phone display, the full text and all photos become visible to you. If you’re a smart phone user, please check it out.

Smart phone app dose not work for me.I use my IPAD most often. This new app dose not allow me to zoom and pan in order to compensate for a vision issue. If the installation was at the device end–and not at your end–there would be no problem.Like the choice I have with the LOWELL SUN and HUFFINGTON POST and others. As it now stands I can no longer keep up with most of your postings.

Sorry about the iPad limitations. I’ll do some research and try to find a work around that still allows you and others to manipulate the font size on your iPad and other tablets. Thanks for the feedback.

Good news for iPad readers – if you scroll all the way down to the bottom of the screen, there’s a button that says “view full site”. Just touch it and the traditional view of the site will appear on your screen. It might be burdensome to do this everytime you visit us, but at least it’s an option that’s available until we figure out something better.

I just did a separate blog post about it here.
