Only the cobblestones put in on Central from the 1980s were removed as they ultimately were too small and couldn’t handle the pounding. The historic ones in the core of Middle, Shattuck, and Palmer will remain as they’re the proper size, plus they’re on side streets that don’t see the volume that Central gets for traffic. And they’re natural traffic calming devices too!
