In the Merrimack Valley: Finegold Selected by The New DEAL

Massachusetts State Senator Barry Finegold (D-Andover), 2EM

Last March  – Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley and Alaska Senator Mark Begich launched  a new non-profit group to highlight young Democratic elected officials with new ideas at the state and local level. The group, called The New DEAL  (an acronym for Developing Exceptional American Leaders) is billed as a “national network committed to highlighting and connecting pro-growth progressive state and local elected leaders from across the country.”

An item sent this morning from the Washington Post’s “Morning Fix” notes the names rounding out the first class of  “up-and-coming” Democrats… among those on the list is Massachusetts State Senator Barry Finegold of Andover who represents the Second Essex Middlesex District. The district – my home district as a resident and a member of the DSC –  includes the communities of Andover, Dracut, Lawrence and Tewksbury. Kudos to Senator Finegold!

BTW – Senator Finegold brings his district Listening Forum to Tewksbury this Saturday morning October 1, 20011 from 9:30-11 a.m. at the Tewksbury Public Library, 300 Chandler St. The forum designed to allow residents, community leaders and members, to voice their concerns or ask questions of their district legislator.
