The Boston Globe has a follow-up article on the short-fall of certified signatures in the recall effort to oust controversial Lawrence Mayor William Lantigua. The citizen group “It’s Your Right” submitted 5,483 for certification – 5,232 certified signatures were needed to have Lantigua recalled as mayor -4,366 were certified leaving a short-fall of 866. After the City Clerk announced the tally, Lantigua beamed before a supportive crowd outside City Hall. Recall supporters are working on plans to challenge the rejections. Both sides have until 5 p.m. Tuesday to file objections with the Lawrence Board of Registrars.
