It was the wish of Mayor Leo Farley to have a monument commemorating the Irish who came to Lowell. I gave all the materials/memorabilia from those events and efforts to David McKeon for his St. Patrick’s Church archive. Bishop Rocco blessed the monument at a ceremony in 1977.
