Early Word on the Oct. 2011 Kerouac Festival
This note is from Steve Edington, president of Lowell Celebrates Kerouac! Inc., from the group’s website at www.lowellcelebrateskerouac.org
“Plans are already shaping up for the 2011 October LCK Festival which, this year, will run from October 6-9. We’re building this year’s theme around the anticipated release in August, 2011, of Kerouac’s memoir/novel The Sea is My Brother, which is based on his experience in the United States Merchant Marine in the Second World War. Our featured performer will be Michele Choiniere, a Franco-American songwriter and singer based in northern Vermont, and who is very Kerouac friendly. She’ll be performing at the Centralville Social Club on Saturday night, October 8th. This is the Club where Kerouac’s parents were members, and is just a couple of blocks from Jack’s birthplace. There will be our usual tours of the Kerouac sites of Lowell, poetry readings, open mikes, the Commemorative at the Commemorative, and much more. We’ll keep this site updated for October as plans unfold.
“Keep posted! Very best to all,
“Steve Edington, President, Lowell Celebrates Kerouac”
