Another ‘Fighter’ & Writer: Andre Dubus III in Globe Mag
In the Boston Globe Magazine today, the Boston Uncommon feature highlights author Andre Dubus III of UMass Lowell and Newbury because he has a new book due out in February, “Townie,” a memoir about growing up and boxing and writing in Haverhill. Read the Q & A here, and get the Globe if you want more.
Andre also had a piece in the New York Times earlier this week that I believe we missed. Here’s the link
Another author with local ties s featured in the press today. The Portland Press Herald announces on its Books page that Jane Brox will speak Wednesday from noon-1 p.m. at the Portland Public Library as part of its Brown Bag Lecture series. Brox, of course, hails from Dracut, but now calls Brunswick, Maine home. She’s speaking on her latest book Brilliant:The Evolution of Artificial Light, which was name one of Time magazine’s top five nonfiction books in 2010. Always refreshing to open the paper in Maine and see a familiar name.
