Bob Dylan said you don’t need a weatherman to tell which way the wind’s blowing. Bob Forrant says we shouldn’t wait for the economists to tell us which way the economy went, but should seed the clouds ourselves to make some money rain. Read his latest take on the regional economy in his recent essay in the SUN, and consider subscribing to the SUN if you appreciate the writing.
Just a brief post to acknowledge Bob’s efforts manning the crows nest on the UML economic development steamship. After enduring extremely choppy waters over the last several years, this vessel has landed and now begins implementing bricks and mortar programs geared towards bringing modern day research, development and manufacturing opportunities to the City.
ComeToLowell.com is influenced by Mr. Forrant’s writings and views. He’s a true inspiration and we need more like him to collaborate on building a sustainable economy for Lowell and the region.
Our latest blog entry is made in appreciation of Bob’s work:

hey cometolowell,
I’d post a comment on your blog but I don’t know how. You should make posting more user friendly. Thanks.
We need high tech, professional business etc. in downtown that doesn’t primarily make $$ off the general population ie. lawyers, dentists, banks. We need companies that can bring in dough from the regional, national, and even international markets. Can’t someone talk to Ted Leonsis about doing some business in downtown Lowell?
What happened to plans for a hotel next to the arena?
Brian, I’m not sure how people see Blogger comments on their browsers, but there’s a comments box at the bottom of my browser. If you have trouble posting a comment, please email me your comments and I’ll post them. Thanks!
