Who’s Afraid of Anna Chapman?
Excuse me, but I just can’t take this Russian spy thing seriously.
You see I was born in 1951 and lived my early years in the heart of the Cold War.
I experience the “Red Scare” first hand. And let me tell you, when you’re an innocent kid and “they” tell you the Russians wants to blow you, your family and you friends to smithereens its scary as hell.
But when I found out there were ten Russian spies roaming around the US hanging out in Starbucks and McDonalds, well, it just didn’t scare me.
But, I can remember sitting in a second grade classroom at the Lafayette Elementary school in Everett and practicing hiding under my desk in case of a nuclear attack by the Russians. Now, that was scary! And trust me, I have always been a big guy so squeezing under that small desk was probably more of a risk to my health than being unprepared for a nuclear attack.
Have you seen Russian spy Anna Chapman? She doesn’t look very scary to me, at all.
But “they” scared the bejesus out of me when I was a kid…did “they” ever.
I remember watching TV programs describing the construction of fallout shelters to be used for protection from radio-active debris after a Russian nuclear attack. Scary? You bet…AND to make matters worse, it was in black and white!
I grew up in a housing project in Everett and I remember the scary feeling I got listening to air raid sirens sounding for practice.
But these Russian spies of 2010, no big deal for me…
Check out this video of Anna Chapman and see if you agree…does she seem scary?
In my youth we always feared The Russians now they are still around so lets have a great “Forth of July”.
She can spy on me anytime.
Tony, they are called sleeper cells.
