JACK DEMPSEY TO BE MARRIED (2)

He announces his official engagement to Estelle Taylor, cinema artist, who obtained her divorce only last Friday. – Jack will no longer fight after his marriage. – He wants to become a businessman.

—————

Los Angeles, 17. – Last night, Jack Dempsey officially announced his engagement to Estelle Taylor whom he will marry next May or June. The champion confided to his friends that he would like to defend his title at least once more because he will probably never fight again after his marriage.

Yesterday, Estelle Taylor, cinema artist who only obtained her divorce last Friday from Malcolm Peacock of Philadelphia, revealed her engagement but refused to receive journalists.

“Jack is the spokesman for both of us” she said. “He is the one who speaks; that is it. He is the one who will speak in this affair. That is all I have to say.”

“We will marry possibly in May or June” said Jack Dempsey yesterday. “Miss Taylor is a marvelous woman and I am proud to announce our engagement and our upcoming marriage.”

There is a rumour about a spat between Dempsey and his manager Jack Kearns. Moreover, Dempsey’s withdrawal from boxing is possible. Jack and his manager discussed it at Hotel Barbara which they co-own. It seems that there is an agreement between the two. Were Dempsey to fight again, it will be under the management of none other than Jack Kearns.

Dempsey hinted that he would leave the boxing arena to become a businessman. Hotel Barbara is but one of his many properties and investments.
