Lowell Walks 2020 Schedule
Lowell Walks is back in 2020, bigger and better than ever. This year, we’ve partnered with Lowell National Historical Park to offer 25 different Saturday morning walks. Here they are:
March 7 at 10am: Women’s Activism in Lowell Walk with Resi Polixa, Allison Horrocks, Anne Mulvey, and Sheri Denk – starts at Lowell National Park Visitor Center
March 14 at 10am: Irish Acre Walk with Dave McKean – starts at Lowell National Historical Park Visitor Center
March 28 at 10am – Mill Girl Literature Walk with Allison Horrocks and Bridget Marshall – starts at Lowell National Historical Park Visitor Center
April 11 at 10am – Lowell Memorial Auditorium Artifacts and Monuments with Dick Howe – STARTS AT Lowell Memorial Auditorium, 50 East Merrimack Street
April 25 at 10am: Lowell Cemetery Tour with Dick Howe – STARTS AT Lowell Cemetery. Tour begins at Lawrence Street Gate (opposite 1025 Lawrence Street).
April 26 (SUNDAY) at 11am: Lowell Cemetery Tour with Dick Howe – STARTS AT Lowell Cemetery. Tour begins at Lawrence Street Gate (repeat of Saturday tour).
May 2 at 10am: Lowell’s Radical Labor History Walk with Allison Horrocks and Brandon Hoots – start at Lowell National Historical Park Visitor Center (starting location to be confirmed)
May 9 at 10am: Franco-American School and Grotto Tour (part of Doors Open Lowell) with Dick Howe and Coalition for a Better Acre. STARTS AT Franco School, 357 Pawtucket Street.
May 23 at 10am: Cambodiatown Tour with Dick Howe and Cambodian Mutual Assistance Association. STARTS AT Clemente Park, 974 Middlesex Street
June 6 at 10am: 20th Century LGBTQ History Walk with Resi Polixa and Dre Vargas – starts at Lowell National Historical Park Visitor Center
June 13 at 10am: Slavery in Lowell and the Underground Railroad Walk with Allison Horrocks and Jacquelynn Coles – starts at Lowell National Historical Park Visitor Center (starting location to be confirmed)
June 27 at 10am: Middlesex Village Walk with Dick Howe – STARTS AT Hadley Field, 1650 Middlesex Street (corner of Baldwin and Middlesex)
July 11 at 10am: Hamilton Canal Innovation District Walk with City of Lowell Department of Planning and Development – starts at Lowell National Historical Park Visitor Center
July 18 at 10am: Colombian Community in Lowell Walk with Sebastian Cardona – starts at Lowell National Historical Park Visitor Center (starting location to be confirmed)
August 1 at 10am: Indigenous History in Lowell Walk with Allison Horrocks and Trevor Lamb – starts at Lowell National Historical Park Visitor Center
August 8 at 10am: Public Art Tour with Rosemary Noon and Paul Marion – starts at Lowell National Historical Park Visitor Center
August 22 at 10am: City Hall Monuments Tour with Dick Howe – starts at Lowell National Historical Park Visitor Center
August 29 at 10am: Women’s Suffrage and Enfranchisement Walk with Resi Polixa- STARTS AT South Common, corner of Thorndike and Summer Streets
September 5 at 10am: Lowell’s Radical Labor History Walk with Allison Horrocks and Brandon Hoots – starts at Lowell National Historical Park Visitor Center (starting location to be confirmed)
September 12 at 10am: Welcome Week Lowell Walk with Bob Forrant and Emma Tobin – starts at Lowell National Historical Park Visitor Center (starting location to be confirmed)
September 19 at 10am: Acre Foodways with Sebastian Cardona and Joey Banh – starting location to be determined
September 26 at 10am: Lowell Cemetery Tour with Dick Howe – STARTS AT Lowell Cemetery, Knapp Avenue Gate, 77 Knapp Ave.
September 27 (SUNDAY) at 11am: Lowell Cemetery Tour with Dick Howe – STARTS AT Lowell Cemetery, Knapp Avenue Gate, 77 Knapp Ave. (repeats Saturday’s tour).
October 3 at 10am: 19th Century LGBTQ History Walk with Resi Polixa and Deb Fowler – starts at Lowell National Historical Park Visitor Center
October 10 at 10am: Literary Lowell Walk with Resi Polixa, Sean Thibodeau, and Joey Banh – starts at Lowell National Historical Park Visitor Center (starting location to be confirmed)
October 17 at 10am: Boott Mills Archaeology Tour with Kevin Coffee – STARTS AT Boott Cotton Mills Museum, 115 John Street.
October 24 at 10am: Rise and Demise of Surface Rail Walk with Bernard Trubowitz and NPS – starts at Lowell National Historical Park Visitor Center.
