Pundits are speculating that President Obama really meant it when he said he’d rather be a good one-term president than a mediocre two-term president. How unusual for a politician to stay focused on “now.” The Telegraph online in the U.K. yesterday published an opinion piece by Toby Harnden in which he questions whether the President even wants a second term. Read the column here, which I picked up from realclearpolitics.com
Sorry, but this peice is nothing more than an excuse to slam Obama. The slights and insults are hung on the faux story, which is fabricated for convenience.
– “Few Americans consider themselves bigger than the presidency but Obama might be one of them”
– “What his words lacked were any real empathy with what Americans felt ”
– “He has long seemed so convinced of his own virtue that to question his motives is illogical. Increasingly, his pronouncements carry the tone of one who believes those who disagree are stupid or bigoted.”
I’m happy to discuss Obama’s mindset, but not based on this hack’s ill musings.
A more interesting scenario can happen after the midterms. Biden has a “health issue” in the second half of the term. Obama taps Hillary Clinton for the number 2 slot. Unbeatable combination. Ya heard it here first.
