Lowell Election Commission Reschedules Preliminary Election

LOWELL, MA (August 11, 2015) The Election Commission has unanimously voted to reschedule the City Preliminary from Tuesday, September 22, 2015 to Tuesday, September 29, 2015 to avoid conflict with Yom Kippur. Lowell joins other cities in voting to change the preliminary date.

As the mission of the Election and Census Office is to provide election services for the citizens of our community; to protect the integrity of votes; and to maintain a transparent, accurate, and fair electoral process: the Election Commission wanted to ensure that all voters have the opportunity to vote in the preliminary election.

As a result of this change, the voter registration deadline will now be Wednesday, September 9, 2015. Additionally, the deadline to apply for absentee ballots will be Monday, September 28, 2015 at 12 PM.
