Lowell Walks resume this Saturday
The Lowell Walks guided downtown walking tour series resumes this Saturday with The Irish in the Acre to be led by Dave McKean. A history teacher and the archivist of St. Patrick’s parish, Dave regularly leads this tour as part of Irish Cultural Week (although he had to cancel it this past March due to all the snow still on the ground).
Like all the Lowell Walks tours, this one begins at 10 am on Saturday (July 11) at the National Park Visitor Center at 246 Market Street. The tour is free and does not require advance registration; just show up prepared to walk around downtown and the Acre for 90 minutes.
The following Saturday, July 19, the Lowell Walks tour will be Green Lowell. Led by Jay Mason, the chair of the city’s Green Building Commission, the tour will visit a number of downtown buildings and businesses that use the latest techniques and practices to increase energy efficiency and decrease harm to the environment.
