Candidate stands on new contract for Manager
In two stories, Lyle Moran first asked incumbent city councilors and then challengers where they stood on a new contract for city manager Bernie Lynch whose existing agreement expires next summer. Here’s what the incumbents said according to the first article:
Bill Martin – supports new contract for city manager (CM)
Marty Lorrey – supports new contract for CM
Rita Mercier – leaning towards new contract for CM
Joe Mendonca – leaning towards new contract for CM
Vesna Nuon – leaning towards new contract for CM
John Leahy – prefers no contract for CM but might support one if it would retain Lynch
Rodney Elliott – opposes new contract for CM
Ed Kennedy – opposes new contract for CM
Here’s where the council challengers stand on this issue according to the second article:
Jim Milinazzo – supports new contract for CM
Bill Samaras – supports new contract for CM
Stacie Hargis – supports new contract for CM
Derek Mitchell – CM position should have contract; noncommittal on Lynch
Eric Gitschier – CM position should have contract; noncommittal on Lynch
Van Pech – prefers no contract for CM but might support one if it would retain Lynch
Corey Belanger – opposes a contract for CM position
Dan Rourke – opposes a contract for CM position
Genevieve Doyle – noncommittal on contract for CM position; would advertise when Lynch deal ends
Fred Doyle – opposes Lynch serving as CM
Derek Mitchell actually DOES support Bernie Lynch’s performance and would like to extend a new contract to him according to all the candidate nights I attended and the confirmation I just received from Derek via FB message. I was wondering how the LOL Sun could endorse Derek Mitchell one day and then cuff him upside the head with this nonsense the next when I noticed the by-line referencing Rodney (Voldemort) Elliott’s own Lyle Moran.
The endorsement by the Lowell Sun is a group effort, where these articles are just Lyle wouldn’t-know-a-fact-if-it-bit-him Moran.getting it wrong yet again.
Derek Mitchell supports professional city management and likes what Bernie’s done with the place. A1 Moody’s rating, AA+ Standard and Poors rating. It doesn’t get better than that. And with excellent credit ratings, imagine what Bernie’s team can do during his next contract. I for one am really looking forward to finding out, and by all accounts save Lyle’s, so is Derek..
