Derek Mitchell Halloween rally
Derek Mitchell has an interesting event planned for Halloween night – a rally that begins and ends at Kittredge Park at the corner of Andover and Nesmith Streets. Here’s what Derek’s Facebook Page says about the event:
Join Derek Mitchell and the campaign volunteer team for a visibility and rally on Thursday before the Red Sox game! There are free shirts for the first 50 guests! We will be meeting at the intersection of Andover St. (Route 133) and Nesmith St. (Route 38) from 5-6pm. Costumes are welcome. Feel free to bring the kids by before before trick-or-treating!
Also, Matt Hanson, the current chair of the Chelmsford Board of Selectmen but also a former classmate of Derek Mitchell at UMass Lowell’s Economic and Social Development Master’s Degree program. In a blog post titled “Who is Derek Mitchell?” Here is some of what Matt wrote:
Derek understands the importance of creating a dialogue with residents and business owners regarding issues. He understands that it is more important to ask questions and listen rather than to give opinions. If you listen to Derek speak with volunteers before canvassing, you will hear him say that he feels it is his responsibility to reach out to residents and create a dialogue about city issues and that if he cannot engage and interest residents in the government process, he would be failing as a candidate and elected official. The “issue of the day” may change tomorrow, but Derek Mitchell understands that true civic engagement is the best way to approach the process.
