Lowell Real Estate Review

There were a couple of notable events in the Lowell real estate world yesterday.

First, the apartment building complex known as Cabot Crossing on Bowden Street in Swede Village/South Lowell sold for $20,250,000.

Second, the city of Lowell recorded 227 tax takings for unpaid FY2012 property taxes. In the past, these documents have just sat on record as liens, accumulating interest until the property was either sold or refinanced at which time the city would get its money. Last year, however, the city successfully auctioned off bundles of these tax title properties. Yesterday’s bulk filing could be a prelude to another such auction this summer. All of the documents can be viewed on the “search” function of the Middlesex North Registry of Deeds website (www.lowelldeeds.com).
