    My friend from a troblesome area of the Congo in Africa was married in Lawrence, and I was at the wedding. The dresses and hats were beautiful, food was plentiful and was very enjoyable. The ceremony was in the bride’s yard.

    I feel like a slob at Mass, thanks to my fellow African parishioners. I now make sure I wear my good jeans on Sundays. I have to admit I’m embarassed. I do make sure my daughter wears her black slack/black dress shoes when she altar-serves. No dirty sneakers at the Altar please.
