One Response to 1999 City Council Primary Election Results

  1. Jack Mitchell says:

    – This preliminary had 19 candidates, as would the current pending preliminary.
    – All but one candidate that placed in the top 9 was elected to the Council in November.
    – The 11 thru 18 finish held into November, with all the movement in the top 10.

In current elections, the top place finish can anticipate receiving support from 50-60% of the total voters going to the polls. In the preliminary above, the top place finish received 4820 votes. Later that year, that translated into a top place finish with 9053 votes.

This year, we will find out if there is a benefit to getting out early, going door to door, or if hunkering down until Sept was the way to go.
