January 24, 2011 – Coldest Day of the Year

At 5 am the thermometer read -3 degrees so I bundled up and headed out for a walk. With the right clothes, it wasn’t too bad, but with no fleece for the dog, we cut the walk short and returned a half hour later. I thought the temperature had gone up, but that was just a consequence of my own fuzzy math because -5 is colder than -3. Today’s mystery is whether the five-year old battery in my car turns over this morning. Wednesday’s is whether we’ll get a foot of snow dumped on us.

This has been one brutal winter and it shows no signs of letting up. Hopefully the saying, “In like a lion and out like a lamb” rings true, and soon! I understand the whole sidewalk thing, but if this keeps up the only place left to put the snow will be the sidewalk!

Why certain communities delayed school this morning was beyond me. Im sure it was beacuse of cars and busses not starting, but the temp. actually dropped until about 9 AM or so, according to the radio.

it was really cold. I’m surprised people didn’t die. There are a lot of stupid people in this world, and some are right in America. The thing that makes me mad is that somebody left that poor little pug outside. And on the coldest days of the year.
