“Watching” the Patriots on Twitter

After a series of late nights and early mornings, I decided to skip last night’s Patriots’ game. But at 8:20 pm, I found myself still at my computer so I flicked on the TV and decided to watch the first half. The Pats looked terrific and were way out ahead, but I stuck to my (modified) plan and turned off the TV. Infected by the excitement of the game, however, I couldn’t sleep and ended up following the second half via Twitter on my cell phone.

I’ve long been convinced that Twitter has huge potential as a communications tool. It’s biggest problem thus far is that few of us really know how to use it. So here’s an example. I’ve compiled some of the Tweets that flowed into my phone during the second half of the game. Each Tweet begins with the name of the person or entity followed by the comment which, as is the case with all Tweets, is limited to just 140 characters.

Bruschi puts on his jersey over his shirt and tie. Bruschi said earlier that he hadn’t prepared a speech for the crowd.

Pretty ugly first half for the Jets. Can’t imagine Rex Ryan is overjoyed right now. It’s 24-3, Patriots. Ouch.

Pats should change color of red seats so it’s not so obvious everyone is inside drinking wine, eating filet mignon & discussing sailing
