Lowell Quilt Festival Opens August 12th
Thanks to the Boston Globe for this reminder about the Lowell Quilt Festival – a city-wide celebration of quilts – scheduled for August 12-14 at the Lowell Memorial Auditorum with a special exhibit “Art Quilts Lowell” at the Brush Gallery on Market Street in downtown Lowell. Check for more Festival information at the New England Quilt Museum website here.
From today’s Globe:
The image of women sitting in a circle working on a log cabin pattern isn’t what it’s about for art quilters. These artists usually design from interpretive experiences, images, and concepts. New Mexico’s Betty Busby dives into the world of small creatures for “Sea Urchin,’’ one of the pieces on display at Art Quilts Lowell, a show of contemporary quilts by artists from all over the United States. This exhibit is also part of the Lowell Quilt Festival (Aug. 12-14. www.lowellquiltfestival.org). Aug. 10, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. (through Sept. 11; reception Aug. 14, 3-5 p.m.). Free. The Brush Gallery & Artists Studios, 256 Market St., Lowell. 978-459-7819. www.thebrush.org
