Video Description: Lowell, MA was one of the great industrial towns during the American Industrial Revolution. The great mills in the town were water powered. The mills in large part were run by young girls between the ages of 15-30. Later on, more and more immigrants worked in the mills. Here is an example of an actual mill still in action in the spinning room.
