You cannot keep Spring from coming (1)

You cannot keep Spring from coming (1) – (PIP #65)

By Louise Peloquin

Again the blackbird sings; the streams
Wake, laughing, from their winter dreams
And tremble in the April showers
The tassels of the maple flowers.

THE GREAT LESSON OF LIFE

Easter is coming, Easter has arrived, Alleluia!

Easter is the glorious resurrection of the flesh, synonymous with the rebirth of nature!

Easter is Christ’s victorious rising from the tomb; it is His glorious triumph over death. Easter is a day of  joy.

Easter, is a labarum (2) of joy, peace, faith and hope.

Easter is Spring on the verge of bursting out. Everywhere, it is a joyful hymn.

Easter is beauty, grandeur and power.

Easter is churches in all of their adornments, religious ceremonies more grandiose than ever.

Easter, in a word, is the supreme stage on the road leading to Eternal Life, the Christian’s great belief, the guarantee of salvation, provided that our soul resurrects in Jesus.

Easter is the big day of resolutions, the quintessence of what is greatest, the inspiration of our future actions, the consolidation of our terrestrial journey.

Finally, Easter is the great lesson of life, the explanation of tomorrow, of enigmatic tomorrow.

Voilà, in a few words, what the great feast of Easter means to us. It gives birth within us to these intimate feelings which we would like to describe here but which are beyond description.

Eloquent preachers will highlight better than we do the true meaning of this feast. They will know how to exalt the resurrected God-Made-Man and explain with more clarity and precision His marvelous promise of Eternal Life.

The Church calls all of its children to rejoice tomorrow.

     Happy Easter!

A GLORIOUS EPIC

Tomorrow is the anniversary of the battle of Lexington and Concord. Since it falls on a  Sunday, the civil authorities postponed the solemn commemoration to Monday. The customary ceremonies will take place at the very place where the two armies met. This day will be a civil holiday for the entire State of Massachusetts.

The battle of Lexington and Concord is one of the most remarkable feats of arms in United States history and one of the most glorious in the country’s military annals.

It was a great victory won by the young army of independence, the first in the campaign. Nevertheless, it provoked great fear among the English.

It will be a day of national, and especially regional, rejoicing. It will be a grand fête par excellence for all patriots. (3)
