How did the people of Québec come to celebrate the Nativity of St. John the Baptist as a feast defining their cultural identity and history? How did the celebration become an official state holiday in Québec — and an unofficial holiday for Québécois and other French-Canadians around the world? And how did poutine become Québec’s gift to comfort food lovers everywhere? There’ll be history, humor, and light refreshments as Québec native Marie-Josée Duquette sheds light on these intriguing questions — in English et un peu de français!

 Born and raised in Montréal, Marie-Josée Duquette is a native of Canada’s Province of Québec and has been the Culture, Francophonie and Academic Affairs Attachée at the Québec Government Office in Boston since 2018. She is the author of two books published in Québec:

• Histoire d’une vie trop courte (History of an Exceedingly Short Life)
• Une Québécoise à Boston (A Québec Girl in Boston)

Marie-Josée holds a master’s degree in Environmental Sciences from Québec University in Montréal and a D.E.S.S in Marketing from Montréal’s Hautes Études Commerciales. She has lived in the Boston area since 2009 and has an 18-year-old daughter.
