City Hall by moonlight
Tony Sampas captured these photos of Lowell City Hall last evening. How many times through the history of that building has someone inside muttered “there must be a full moon tonight” – frequently, I suspect. If anyone said that today, you were right.
Stunning.
Great work, Tony. I love the eerie dreamscape quality.
With his photographs of the city, Tony has become a contemporary version of his legendary uncle, Charles G. Sampas, whose daily column in the SUN for decades was a proto-blog banged out on the typewriter in Kearney Square. Instead of “Charlie’s” written reports of what he was seeing and thinking, Tony is giving us memorable images of the city, in detail and broad view. We have a new version of Sampascoopies. Maybe we call it Sampasnapies.
