“A Journey” by Kevin Cavanaugh

A Journey

By Kevin Cavanaugh

Upon a winged horse I fly
Above the trees below the sky
To dwell a fleeting moment with the wind
To shoot the breeze and then rescind

Mindless is the path I take
Mindless be or mindless make
Escape not life for that is death
Just leave the mind for half a breathe

All endures that is true
Thoughts universe will be withdrew
Tis’ little risk once said and done
Yet the adventure is half the fun

In twelve lyrical, well crafted lines, we escape with Kevin – for the briefest of moments – from the ordinary cares that bedevil us all. Beautifully done.

  2. Ed DeJesus says:

Having published my work on AI-developed tools generations before anyone knew what the acronym meant, I can assure you this breezy poetic piece was not teased out of ChatGPT.

Mr. Cavanagh’s YOLO reminder was a breath of fresh air and a fun read. And I wouldn’t be surprised to see it quoted in one of Steve O’s future stories.

  3. Steve O'Connor says:

And I thought Mr. Cavanaugh was just an engineer, a sharp businessman, and a sea captain. Turns out he receives whispers from the Muse as well. A multi-talented versifier. Well done.
