Lowell Walks Kick-Off: North Common, April 8th
Lowell Walks will kick-off this year with a North Common walk on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 10 am. This walk will begin at the Murkland School, 350 Adams Street, Lowell and will be led by Dick Howe.
This area of Lowell is packed with history and interesting stories. The walk will proceed from the North Common to Fletcher Street to Pawtucket to Salem and back to the start. A visit to UMass Lowell’s University Crossing will be included. The walk will last approximately 90 minutes.
The entrance to the Murkland School is across Adams Street from the rear of St. Patrick’s Church. Parking is available at the school and also along Adams Street.
Another “pre-season” Lowell Walk will take place on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 10 am from Lowell National Park Visitor Center at 246 Market Street. This walk, the Labor Movement in Lowell, will be led by Bob Forrant and Rachel Arnason.
Also, this spring’s Lowell Cemetery tours will take place on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 1 pm, and on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 10 am. Both of these walks begin at the cemetery’s Lawrence Street Gate which is opposite 1025 Lawrence Street.
Our regular Lowell Walks summer schedule begins on Saturday, June 10, 2017. The full Lowell Walks schedule is available on this site’s Upcoming Events page.
Thanks for the notice
You’re a great tour guide, but I wish more of these walks were available in the afternoons. By the way, I think you walked by me in the bus/train station the other morning.
Thanks, Paige. I’ll see if we can work in some afternoon and early evening tours for those who can’t make it on Saturday mornings.
Sorry I missed you at the train station last week. Whenever I have a meeting in Boston, I always use Commuter Rail.
It’s no big deal about the train station – I wouldn’t even expect you to recognize me. I’d love if you could add more variety to the tour times!
