“I love to come to Lowell” were the words Elizabeth Warren used to open her remarks last night at an enthusiastic get-out-the-vote rally at Arthur Ramalho’s West End Gym on Lawrence Street. The room was packed and the podium inside the ring and the boxing paraphernalia covering the walls created a wild atmosphere and made for a great rally.
Entering the ring to support Elizabeth Warren were from left, Mayor Patrick Murphy, City Councilor Vesna Nuon, Randi Weingarten (President of American Federation of Teachers), Bruce Mann (Warren’s spouse) Rita Ramalho, State Senator Eileen Donoghue, State Senator Ken Donnelly (hidden), Arthur Ramalho, Niki Tsongas (hidden), Elizabeth Warren, Kevin Murphy, Sheriff Peter Koutoujian, Councilor Bill Martin and former Mayor and City Manager Brian Martin. Also in the crowd were Councilor Marty Lorrey and School Committee members Bob Gignac and Kim Scott (there may have been other elected officials but the room was so packed it was tough to see anyone not in your immediate vicinity).
