Who knew? We took advantage of today’s beautiful fall weather to visit Great Brook State Park in Carlisle which is only 15 minutes away from the Highlands neighborhood in Lowell. The many miles of hiking trails at Great Brook quickly transport you into the forest just a short distance from home. Although we didn’t buy an ice cream from the functioning ice cream stand in the park, we did look at some of the domesticated animals – cows, goats and chickens mostly. But there was also a pig (shown below) who was sleeping beneath a warning sign (above). Since my contact with pigs has been limited to consuming pork products and watching the movie “Babe”, I was surprised to learn that they are such dangerous animals.
