    I feel like this keeps happening across the country — Independent candidates get “hot” for a while, they become really competitive in the polls, and then the Big Fizzle happens as the election draws nearer and people circle their R or D wagons. People thought an Independent had a chance statewide in New Jersey, but then when voting day came, it was either Corzine or Christie.

    I could get more excited if I really believed there was an Independent bone in Tim Cahill’s body. I don’t, and I’m more or less ignoring his candidacy.
