Kerouac’s “Dharma Bums” lecture

The Parker Lecture Series continues with a presentation by Dr. Ann Charters titled “Jack Kerouac’s ‘Dharma Bums’ Sixty Years Later”. The program will take place at the Visitor Center theater on Saturday, October 6th, from 2 to 3 p.m. The event is free and free parking is available in the nearby visitor center lot at 304 Dutton Street.

On this 60th anniversary of the publication of Kerouac’s novel The Dharma Bums, Dr. Ann ChartersRetired Professor of English at the University of Connecticut will present her thoughts on Kerouac’s Bay Area encounter with Buddhism and poet Gary Snyder. Dr. Charters is the author of the first published biography of Jack Kerouac.
