We are pleased to introduce a new contributor to RichardHowe.com, the notable cartoonist Nicholas Whitmore, who creates a daily cartoon for The Journal in Newcastle Upon Tyne on the northeast coast of England. What is Nick doing here in Lowell? He comes to us via his lifelong friend John Wooding, the popular professor emeritus at UMass Lowell who is involved in many community activities in the city. John is a sometimes contributor to this blog also. He and Nick have been friends since they were thirteen years old. This must be in the gold or silver category of long friendships. We have a few drawings with punch lines from Nick, who creates the whole cartoon, that we will post in the next couple of weeks. We hope the relationship can continue after this first wave.
