Over the past year several volunteers from the Greater Lowell Genealogy Club have indexed the Overseers of the Poor Collection for the Lowell Historic Board. Discovered in the attic of Lowell City Hall, this collection contains over 6,000 individual records and correspondence created by the Office of the Overseers of the Poor between 1887 and 1908. Come join the GLGC and the LHB for a free presentation introducing this wonderful collection to the public.

  1. John Quealey says:

The Poor Farm that I recall was on Chelmsford St.in Lowell as I answered mass many Sundays at the chaple.

  2. Bill says:

Where does one (from out of state) view/browse or request copies of records for those that used the Poor House in the 1890’s?

    Thanks,

    Bill
