Over the years, longtime Lowell Folk Festival goers have enjoyed the wonderful talent of Irish musican Séamus Connolly. Connolly is one of the world’s most respected master Irish traditional musicians and teachers. A multiple winner of the Irish National Fiddle Championship, Connolly currently holds an endowed Chair position at Boston College.

Fans of Seamus Connolly will be pleased to know that the Boston College Libraries have just  announced a new exhibit ~ The Musical Roots of Séamus Connolly, Sullivan Artist in Residence.

The Boston College Libraries are pleased to announce a new exhibit:
The Musical Roots of Séamus Connolly, Sullivan Artist in Residence

The exhibit at the John J. Burns Library runs through May 23, 2013, on the
Chestnut Hill Campus of Boston College, and highlights influences and
milestones in the music career of Séamus Connolly.

A renowned Irish traditional musician, performer, and teacher from Killaloe,
Ireland, Connolly won ten All-Ireland solo fiddle championships before
immigrating to the United States in 1976. As Sullivan Artist-in-Residence in
the Center for Irish Programs, Connolly directs Irish music and dance
instruction and programming at Boston College.

Burns Library Hours:  Monday through Friday (9 a.m. – 5p.m.) except holidays;
Wednesday nights (5 p.m. – 8 p.m.) through May 1 except March 6; and the
following Saturdays (10am-2pm): Feb. 23; March 16 & 23; April 6, 20, & 27; and
May 4. The library is closed Friday March 29 (Good Friday) and Monday April 15
(Patriot’s Day).

    In addition to being a great exemplar of traditional Irish fiddling, Seamus is a wonderful guy, very humble and down to earth, always encouraging younger or less accomplished musicians.
