Manning can not win the big one !
What a game! The Saints never quit, never turned the ball over and when down 10-0, shut the colts down with a stellar defensive effort. A true blue collar team that makes fans in cities like New Orleans, take pride in their effort and keep that state motivated by their strengths.
It was a great game. The on-sides kick to start the second half will come to symbolize the Saints’ aggressiveness and Peyton Manning’s 4th quarter interceptions which was returned for a New Orleans TD was reminiscent of the old days when the Patriots were able to do things like that to him. A few weeks ago, I found myself in the odd position of cheering for the Colts, but that was only because their opponent was the Jets. Last night, the world was back to normal. We were all pulling for the underdog and the underdog won.
I had friends tell me that the on-sides kick was 50-50 chance. That is correct if it is in the 4th quarter. When eveyone is expecting it. What we had was the element of surprise at the beginning of the 3rd quarter. The kicking team was line up to kick away. The kicking team knew that they were going to kick an on-sides. Thus, the odd are in favor of the kicking team. How say you ?
Dean,
I’m sure you saw that violent scrum as both teams fought for the ball. Any one could have come up with it at the bottom of that pile by the time those refs could wade their way to the ball.
