Check this out from YouTube, a performance of the song “California Zephyr” by Ben Gibbard and Jay Farrar from the soundtrack to a new documentary film about Jack Kerouac’s crack-up novel Big Sur, titled One Fast Move or I’m Gone. The lyrics are based on passages in Kerouac’s book. Ben and Jay are better known for their work with the groups Death Cab for Cutie and Son Volt, respectively. Several of the tracks on the soundtrack CD from Atlantic Records are co-produced by Lowell native Jim Sampas, who also co-produced the film.
